Fabric flower

I made this fabric flower today using a chiffon print fabric and tulle.  I cut both fabrics 2" x 22".   Fold each fabric in half and put them on top of each other.  Using a needle and thread do a running stitch through the fold of both fabrics together (4 thicknesses).  Pull the thread, gathering the fabric.  As the fabric forms a flower, stitch in place to secure.  Cut a small circle of felt and hot glue to the back.

If you don't want the "ravelly" look, you could do the running stitch on the raw edge instead of the folded edge.

Depending on how you plan to use the flower on, you can attach a pin to make a broach, hair clip, glue it to a card, frame, or book.

Use whatever fabric and/or ribbon that suits your application for this embellishment.  I'm going to make some using burlap and tulle together for an interesting contrast.

Let your imagination run wild and have fun with this.  Let me know what you come up with.  This is a great project to use scraps or remnants as it takes very little fabric. It's also a good project to do while watching TV or a movie since it is VERY simple.

ENJOY!!
